Notes for: Mary Elizabeth (Betsy) Bodine

I've seen some things that say her name was Betsy. However, no sources were given. I did have that Elizabeth and Mary Bodine were separate daughters of Abraham and Zelah Bodine. It appears now that they were one and the same person. Judy Laylon's web site gave Mary's name as "Mary Elizabeth Bodine." It is not certain that she is the daughter of this Abraham Bodine.

The article "Is This Your Line?" by Eva Murrell Harmison about Abraham Bodine of Pennsylvania and Ontario says Mary was born in 1811. No souce given.

There is a Mary Bodine who married a William Taylor about 1843 in Southwold Township, Middlesex, Ontario. It is probably this Mary. He was born in 1823 in Ontario (FamilySearch.com). They had a son named Freeborn on 1844 in Southwold as well as Abraham (1845) and Margaret (1850).

I later found information in the Best-Bodine LDS data that says that Catherine Horman contacted a Harley Taylor in Detroit, Michigan. He is a descendant of this family. Harley had the family Bible of William Bodine Taylor. This Bible showed Harly Taylor to be the son of William Bodine Taylor and a grandson of Freeborn Taylor and the greatgrandson of William Taylor and Mary (Bodine) Taylor. In the 1851 Census of Southwold Twp., Elgin Co., Ontario there appears William Taylor, blacksmith, Baptist, 28, b. Canada, W; wife Mary, 22, b. Canada West.; son Freeborn, 7, b. Canada, W; son Abraham, 6, b. Canada, W; daughter Margaret, 1, b. Canada, W.

Note: This wife Mary must be his second wife, not Mary Bodine.

I wonder if her birthday isn't earlier based on those of her siblings.
