Notes for: Henry Bankhead Bodine

I did have that Henry was born in 1861, but with no good source.

From Ronny Bodine:

Henry Bodine, age 4, was living with his parents 1880 in Jersey City, Hudson County, New Jersey. The forthcoming marriage of Henry Bankhead Bodine to Veronica Belle Acheson was announced in the "Buffalo Evening News" of 12 June 1906. The marriage of Henry Bodine to Veronica Acheson took place in Welland District, Ontario, Canada and was recorded in the records there (Welland District. 020058-06) as Henry Bunkhead Bodine, age 30, born in Jersey City, resident of Niagara Falls, New York, bachelor, Episcopalian, son of Jacob Bodine and Mary Bunkhead and Veronica Belle Acheson, 20, born in New York City, resident of Stamford, Welland County, spinster, Presbyterian, daughter of Edward G. Acheson and Margaret Maher. Witnesses were W. Paxon Little of New York City and Sarah Acheson of Stamford, recorded 14 June 1906.

Their marriage was brief. His death was reported in the "New York Times" of 25 Dec 1910 as "BODINE--On Dec. 23, Henry B. Bodine, aged 34. Funeral will be held at the church of the Transfiguration, East 20th St., Monday, Dec. 26, at 11 A.M."

The death of her husband appears to have resulted in Veronica returning to live near her parents. Veronica Bodine and her two children were living in 1911 in Stamford, District of Welland, Ontario, Canada next door to her parents Edward G. and Margaret Acheson. Mrs. Veronica A. Bodine, widow, born Aug 1886 in New York City and a resident of Niagra Falls, New York, arrived on 13 Oct 1913 aboard the S.S. Minnewaska on a cruise which had sailed from London 4 Oct 1913. She traveled again aboard the S.S. Mauretania sailing from Liverpool, England 18 April 1914 and arriving in New York City on 24 April 1914. This time she reported her birth as 24 Aug 1885. For whatever reason, her two sons traveled aboard the S.S. Campania from Liverpool 26 Sept 1914 arriving in New York City 4 Oct 1914. Their dates of birth from the passenger manifest were 14 July 1907 for Edward and 5 Nov 1909 for Henry. The dates did not quite match up with the 1911 Canadian census which recorded their births as July 1906 for Edward and Nov 1908 for Henry.

The New York Times of 2 May 1914 reported "The marriage of Veronica Belle Bodine, the daughter of Dr. Edward G. Acheson and Mrs. Acheson of London, England, and Cyrus Fay Mackey of Franklin, Penn." the previous day in St. Matthew's Church. Veronica and Cyrus Fay Mackey (1872-1940) lived 1920 and 1930 in Franklin, Venango County, Pennsylvania. In 1920, Edward and Henry Bodine lived with them and in 1930, only Edward Bodine, age 22, lived with them.
