Francis Millard, son of Benjamin Bodine, was born in Pine Bush (or Walden or Montgomery), Orange County, New York, March 28, 1818, and died at Pine Bush, Orange County, New York, November 15, 1898. He received his early education in the public schools and engaged in business as a wagon-maker, undertaker and farmer. He had a farm in Middletown, New York, near Goshen, and all his life was spent in Orange County. He married, February 28, 1844, Rachel Niver, who was born in Orange County, New York, February 7, 1819, died November 17, 1898, daughter of Ephraim and Elizabeth (Rumsey) Niver. Children: Theron, born February 20, 1845; Mary Amanda, born October 5, 1846; Benjamin, April 24, 1851, died November 20, 1857; Elizabeth, August 22, 1853, married Orville Edinburg; William H., mentioned below.

He and his wife were buried in a double funeral.

Censuses reflect the family living in Crawford, Orange County from June 1860 to June 1880. Francis was aged 41 in 1860, 52 in 1870 (as F. N. Bodine) and 58 in 1880 at which time he and Rachel lived with their son Theron Bodine and his wife in Crawford.

F. Millard Bodine died at his home near Pine Bush, Tuesday, and this morning, thirty hours later, his wife followed him. Old age was the cause of death, each being about 80 years of age. They are survived by the following children: Theron and Mary, at home, Mrs. Eichenberg, of Monroe, and William of New Hampshire. The couple were married February 28, 1844 and had lived on the homestead farm ever since. The funeral services will be held in the Pine Bush M. E. church Friday, at 2 p. m.

The will of Rachel A. Bodine of the town of Crawford, Orange County, dated 9 Nov 1888, names her husband, Francis M. Bodine, sons Theron N. Bodine and William H. Bodine, and daughters Julia E. Eichenberg and Mary A. Bodine. Son Theron is appointed sole executor. A codicil was added 7 Jan 1895. Proved 19 Dec 1898. The probate notes Rachel died 17 Nov 1898.
