Here is a picture of Benjamin's tombstone in Sandy Ridge Baptist Cemetery near Stockton in Hunterdon Co., NJ. It was sent to me by Brian Bodine. The tombstone reads, "Benjamin Bodine, Died Feb. 17, 1875, In the 82nd year of his age."

Bodine Farm Receives the New Jersey Agricultural Society's Century Farm Award
Wesley and Dee Bodine from Stockton were recently honored with the New Jersey Agricultural Society's Century Farm Award. This award is presented to a family whose farm has remained in that family for 100 years or more. The presentation took place at the Society's annual dinner at Forsgate Country Club in Jamesburg. Wesley Bodine operates Bodine Farm, located on Sergeantsville Road in Stockton. Wesley raises grain, hay and beef on approximately 650 acres.
The history of the Bodine Farm began when Benjamin Bodine cleared the 96-acre tract of land his father had purchased for him in 1843. Originally a dairy farm, Benjamin also raised some vegetables, pigs, chickens and peaches both commercially and for his own use. In 1996, 200 acres of the farm were preserved under the Farmland Preservation program.
Note from Dave: Benjamin's father died in 1801; so he wouldn't have been able to buy Benjamin that land in 1843; however, maybe he had bought it earlier and it later came into Benjamin's hands. Or, maybe I'm confused about who exactly did what here.

Benjamin Bodine lived 1830 in Amwell Township, Hunterdon County. The census age groupings, aside from himself and his wife show one male age 5-9 (Cornelius, 1823), one male 10-14 (William, 1818), and one male age 20-29 (unknown); one female 0-4 (Catharine, 1826), and one female 10-14 (unknown). In 1840 and thereafter, Benjamin Bodine lived with his family in Delaware Township, Hunterdon County. The children in his family now comprised one male age 0-4 (Lambert, 1825), one male 15-19 (Cornelius, 1823) and one female age 10-14 (Catharine, 1826).
The will of Benjamin Bodine of Delaware township, Hunterdon County dated 18 April 1869, proved 1 March 1875 (Hunterdon County Wills, 12: 613, File 7482J) names wife Catharine Bodine; daughters Elizabeth Rogers, wife of Major Rogers and Martha Denson, wife of Charles Denson; sons William and Cornelius Bodine; daughter-in-law Emma, widow of son Lambert Bodine; children of my daughter Catharine Reading, now deceased; grandchildren Asher, Martha, Mary and Sabilla Reading; grandson John E. Bodine, son of William; grandson Samuel Reading Bodine. Sons William and Cornelius Bodine are executors. A codicil was added in 1870, but did not specify an exact date, and therein makes additional bequests to William and Wesley Bodine, sons of William, and to Laura and Martha Bodine.

Catharine Bodine, widow of the late Benjamin Bodine, died Monday, March 27, at her residence near Stockton, in the 90th year of her age. Her husband died three years since, in the 88th year.
