Notes for: James Bodine
He was listed as being nine years of age in the 1850 Census.
From Ronny Bodine:
In the censuses of 1850, 1860 and 1870 he was aged respectively 7, 17 and 27. In 1870, James Bodine Jr. was living in Northampton Township, Burlington County, New Jersey working in the restaurant business. His brother John was living with him, employed as a bartender. Both were single. His marriage was reported in the "New Jersey Mirror" of 6 March 1873: "At the residence of the bride, in Mount Holly, on Feb. 27, by Rev. T. J. B. House, Mr. JAMES BODINE, JR., of Philadelphia, and Miss MARY C. BODINE, only daughter of the late Theodore Bodine." James Bodine and Mary Bodine were second cousins. In 1880, James Bodine Jr. was working as a waiter in the hotel operated by his parents in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was noted that he was married, but his wife was living elsewhere. But, he was counted again in 1880, living with his wife, Mary, in Philadelphia, and working in a hotel. Rebecca Bodine, listed as his mother, was actually the mother of his wife.
