In 1880, Charles and Amanda Bottom were living with her parents in Trenton, Mercer County where Charles worked as an upholsterer and in 1900 in Manhattan, New York. In 1900, Amanda reported she had borne 6 children, all then living.

Charles H. Bottome, a former Trenton business man, died yesterday in Trinity Hospital, New York, of blood poison, folowing an operation for the removal of his left leg. One of his toes became infected several weeks ago and gangrene developed. This necessitated the operation. The funeral services will be held in New York tomorrow morning and the body will then be brought to Trenton for interment in Mercer cemetery in charge of Poulson & Coleman. A short service will be held atthe grave. Mr. Bottome leaves a widow, four sons and two daughters. He was 58 years old and moved with his family to New York about twelve years ago. Prior to that time he had conducted a furniture store on State street and also on Warren street.

Funeral services for Mrs. Adelaide A. Bottome, widow of Charles H. Bottome, who died Wednesday at her late home in Moundeville, W. Va., were held yesterday at the funeral chapel of Poulson & Van Hise, 18 South Warren Street. The Rev. D. T. Stephenson, pastor of the State Street M. E. Church, officiated. Interment was in Mercer Cemetery. [Lengthy floral tributes omitted.]
