Dear Dave,
My name is Don Wyckoff, son of Harold Wyckoff and Jennie Marsh, nee Wyckoff. My paternal grandfather was Norman Wyckoff, and his wife's name was Estella Bodine, nee Wyckoff. daughter of Guy Bodine. I have a very old bible that was L. Bodine's from which this information was taken. It was probably Louise Bodine's as it is embossed Mrs. L. Bodine. In that Bible is a clipping from some newspaper, probably from Ovid N.Y. , but I can't be certain. However I m sending a verbatim copy of the death announcement as it clearly establishes the date of death of my great-grandfather. The reference to county in the announcement is to Seneca County, New York.

Guy S. Bodine

"At an early hour Wednesday morning June 28, 1911 occured the death of Gus S. Bodine at his home just west of Sheldrake Springs. He had been ill for several months. Deceased was the son of the late Cornelius Bodine, a former sheriff of this county, and had spent most of his life in this county, being particularly well known in this end of the county and universally esteemed.- He passed his 64th birthday May 20. Besides the wife and two daughters he leaves one sister, Mrs. Hicks of Penn Yan(sic). Funeral will be held at the home at 2 o'clock this Friday afternoon, with burial at Ovid."

Also verbatium is an announcement pasted with the above clipping as follows.

Another entry hand written in ink this Bible is the following:

Stella A. Bodine was born June 17th 1878.
Florence Marguerite (sp?) Bodine born June 14, 1895

I came across your Bodine Genealogy web page in trying to find some reference to any possible relationship to David Balasco, the great impressario of the late 19 and early 20th century. My grandmother, Estella Bodine Wyckoff, used to tell us about him, but I do not know if he was a relative or not. Perhaps you may know something about that. Also, the announcement is a little ambiguous as to whether Guy was the Sheriff or if that was his father, Cornelius. Perhaps you know?

Thank you for all the work you have done. I hope this little bit of info may be useful, and if I find more about the Bodine's I will be happy to send it along.

Regards from a distant cousin(?)
Donald Harold Wyckoff
