The Seth Lucas family was living 1860 in Northampton Township, Burlington County where he worked as a lime dealer and in 1880 in Trenton, Mercer County working as an express man. In 1900, Seth and Rebecca Lucas were living in the home of their son Robert in Philadelphia. Rebecca reported she had borne 3 children of who 2 were then living. By April 1910, Rebecca Lucas had died and Seth, now a widower, was still living in the home of his son Robert Lucas, also now widowed.

The funeral of Rebecca Lucas, wife of Seth Lucas and mother of Robert G. Lucas, who are well known here, was held this morning at 11 o'clock from her late home, 945 Belmont avenue, Philadelphia. The body arrived in Trenton at 1 o'clock and interment was made in Mercer cemetery. Mrs. Lucas died Monday. She was 74 years old. Her son was for many years foreman of the bookbinding department of the John L. Murphy Publishing Company.

Seth Lucas, Trenton's pioneer expressman, died yesterday at the age of 93 years. For many years he conducted an express business about the centre of the city. During recent years Mr. Lucas had lived with his sister, Mrs. Maria L. Bodine, at 1118 Stuyvesant Avenue. He had been in failing health for some time and had been removed to Mercer Hospital, where he died. Besides Mrs. Bodine, he is survived by his son, Robert G. Lucas, who resides in Philadelphia, and two grandsons, Elmer and Robert Lucas, also of Philadelphia. The funeral will be conducted from the parlors of Poulson & Coleman, 18 South Warren Street, tomorrow afternoon at 4 o'clock. Interment will be in Mercer Cemetery.
