Notes for: Helen (Ellen) Rogers Bodine

She was baptized at age 4 as Ellen Rogers Bodine. Here are some previous notes from Ronny Bodine on her:

The Bordentown "Register" of 6 May 1859 reported the marriage as: "Rev. George H. Neal of the New Jersey Conference to Miss Helen Bodine, adopted daughter of Charles Bodine, Jr. of Bordentown." The Neal family was living 1860 in Upper Freehold Township, Monmouth County, New Jersey where George Neal was noted as a Methodist Clergy and in 1870 in Hamilton Township, Mercer County, New Jersey where he was serving as Pastor of a Methodist-Episcopal Church. See his obituary in the "New Jersey Mirror" of 8 Aug 1902. George and Ellen Neal were buried in Bordentown Cemetery.

Bordentown, Aug. 9.--The Rev. George H. Neal, retired, who was again stricken Monday with paralysis, died yesterday at hi s home on Church street. Funeral services will be held in the Trinity Methodist Episcopal Church, Monday afternoon, at 2:30 o'clock. Mr. Neal was a member of the New Jersey Methodist conference since 1857. He was in the 69th year of his age and had been on the retired list for four years. He leaves a widow and six children, three daughters and three sons, among them being the Rev. George H. Neal, Jr., pastor of the Methodist church at Hightstown; Dr. Charles B. Neal, of Millville; Mrs. D. Frazier, of Bridgeton; Mrs. Isaac Conney, of Spring City, Pa.

Mary Elizabeth Sinnott in her "Annals..." p. 171 writes that Helen R. Bodine was married to Rev. George H. Neal. In appears that Helen was adopted by Charles Bodine (1803-1870), the nephew of her father and her own first cousin. The Bordentown "Register" of 6 May 1859 reported their marriage as: "Rev. George H.
