Notes for: John W. Bodine

John Bodine is named in Sinnott's "Annals..." p. 170 as the eldest child of Francis Bodine. He now can be associated with the John W. Bodine living in Philadelphia who, like his father, also was in the shoe business.
From Records of Old St. George Methodist Episcopal Church, Philadelphia:
Married on 30 March 1830 John W. Bodine and Ann Gant.
John W. Bodine first appears as having been received as a member on 25 March 1827.
Ann Gant Bodine appears on a list of church members dated in May 1830 and soon after on another list noted as "removed."
From Philadelphia City Directories:
1829-1830: John W. Bodine shoe store 80 High
1831-1833: John W. Bodine shoe store 153 N 2d
John Bodine appears in no subsequent Philadelphia city directory and cannot be found in any other record which leads one to speculate that he had died and as a result, his father named another son John, born in 1837.
