Notes for: James Bodine

He may be identical with James Bodine, aged 30-40, living 1830 in Middlesex County, New Jersey, and if so, by virtue of the marriage of his parents in 1799, would have been born in 1800 and died by 1840 (previous info from RB which I want to keep here).

From Ronny Bodine (May 11, 2020):

He was named by Mary Elizabeth Sinnott in her Annals of the Sinnott, Rogers, Coffin, Corlies, Reeves, Bodine and Allied Families, Philadelphia, 1905, p. 167 as a child of Vincent and Elizabeth Bodine without any further notation. It was believed he had died in childhood. However, he is named in the 23 June 1834 deed transacted by his mother where she sold one acre of land as the widow of Vincent Bodine and with the concurrence of his six surviving children, among who was James Bodine. See Middlesex County Deed Book 27, p. 355 wherein James Bodine signed the deed with an "X" along with his mother and siblings.

Although it is apparent, he survived into his 30s, still no other record notes his presence. He is not on record as a landowner in Middlesex County and the 1830 census, where he should be named, records only James Bodine Jr. (as Bordine) of South Amboy Township, his cousin, son of his uncle James Bodine (1755-1836)
