Notes for: Gilbert Bodine
Some of this information comes from Sinnott, page 158. LDS says he is a relative of William T. Bodine. Joseph C. Sisson at jsisson at svg.com gives his wife's name as Harriet Swarthout. Her father was Barnardus Swarthout, born September 1, 1771 in Goshen, New York. Her mother was Mary Halstead, born July 25, 1772. Info in "Early Germans" says most of his descendants were in Iowa. Kathy Hoeldke (hoeldke at hurontario.net), who is compiling a Swarthout book, confirmed that Harriet was the name of Gilbert's wife (and parents' names).
