Notes for: Jesse Green Bodine

Betty has a picture of Jesse Green Bodine with his daughter Jenny given to her by Floyd Bodine when she visited him in his home in Dallas. There was a Jess D. Bodine who married an Ada Drennan in Jefferson County, Illinois on October 31, 1891. Could that have been this Jesse?

The Bodine family was living 1900 in Kaufman County and 1910, 1920 and 1930 in Mesquite, Dallas County where in 1920 Jessie worked as a house carpenter. Jessie and Mallie Bodine were buried in Mesquite Cemetery, Dallas County.

Jesse G. Bodine, 81, former cotton ginner and resident of Dallas County forty years, died Thursday at his Mesquite home. He was born in Illinois and was married to Miss Mallie Creecy of Kaufman, Kaufman County, in 1888. Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. S. C. Hass, Dallas; Mrs. Jessie Moore, Forney; two sons, J. E. Bodine and F. L. Bodine, both of Dallas; two sisters, Mrs. Annie Jones, Bonham; Mrs. Lizzie Echols, Hugo, Okla.; eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the First Christian Church at Mesquite. Burial will be in the Mesquite Cemetery.

Mesquite, Tex., Feb 24.---Mrs. J. G. Bodine, 66, died at her home here at 7:30 p.m. Monday. She is survived by her husband; three daughters, Mrs. Dolly Moore and Mrs. Jennie Haas, Mesquite, and Mrs. Gussie Moore, Forney; two sons, Jim and Floyd Bodine, Dallas; two sisters and eleven grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the Mesquite Christian Church at 3: 30 p.m. Tuesday, with the Rev. Ben F. Hearne, Mineral Wells, officiating. Burial will be in Mesquite.
