COTTONWOOD Jay S. McBryde, 81, of Cottonwood died Sunday, Oct. 17, 2004, at his residence. No services will be held. Born April 7, 1923, in Roosevelt, Okla., he moved to Shasta County in 1958 from Los Angeles. He was -- U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, owner and operator of McBryde Sand and Gravel in Anderson, and -- former member of Royal Moose Lodge 509 in Anderson and the Teamsters Union in Shasta County. Survivors include son Jim Bodenschatz McBryde of Cottonwood; daughters Joyce Beard of Cottonwood and Phyllis Emery of Anderson; brother James of Clear Lake; sister Betty Treadway of Weaverville; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions can be made to Mercy Hospice, 1544 Market St., Redding, CA 96001. Arrangements are being handled by McDonald's Chapel in Redding.
