Notes for: Paul Jasper Bodine

I had his birth date as March 6, 1891 and his death year as 1972, but that had to be a mistake. RB has December 1, 1888 and January 17, 1975. I'll go with those based on the following info from RB:

No Paul Bodine died in Fresno County, CA in 1972. Only three Paul Bodines died in California between 1940 and 1997 and only one, Paul J. Bodine, died in Fresno Co., CA and that was on 17 Jan 1975. His death record shows his birth on 1 Dec 1888 in Texas.

Paul Bodine appears in the April 1910 Fannin County census aged 23, thus born 1886-1887.

Paul Bodine, with wife Sarah and son George, appears in the Jan 1920 Fannin County census aged 31, thus born 1888-1889.

In the SSN DBI no Paul Bodine died 1972 in California. Again, only Paul Bodine born 1 Dec 1888, died Jan 1975 in Fresno.

Paul Bodine, born 1 Dec 1888 in Mulberry [Fannin County], Texas, registered for the WW1 draft in Fannin County on 17 June 1917. He was single and supported his father, 4 sisters and 1 brother. He also had bad eyes and bad feet.

End of info from RB.

Subject: RE: Your work on the Bodine family geneology

Dave,

...All I ever heard was that Paul Jasper Bodine (my grandfather) had French parents and that he may have spoken French himself sometime during his life. Based on what I see in the geneological data on your site ... this is most probably just family mythology since there were so many generations living in the States before Paul Jasper came along, and I would guess that few, if any, spoke French. Paul Jasper, however, was a small, dark man, and just on this alone I can believe he was of French ancestry. I saw him only a few times before he died and I can't remember him talking much, at least that it made sense to me. I recall he had a high, squeaky voice. He always seemed old to me.

I'm also going to forward some info to my one uncle, whom I have been able to contact on the Internet, i.e. Jesse Earl Bodine, currently living in Redding, California... I'm hoping we can clarify some things about Paul Jasper's family and the next two generations following him. My generation already has kids, of course, and some of them are also parents by now. Anyhow, thanks for the info, and I'll be in touch.

Subject: bodine web site info

Dave,

I just found your web site. I was excited to find my grandfather Paul Jasper Bodine. I had heard that the family name was french but that was all I knew. My father was Harold. His middle name was Paul. Your notes about his death and mother being Sarah are correct. I know of two living children at this time. Jess and Margaret. I will try and contact them to fill in some of the blanks.

George was the oldest child. Not sure of the rest of the order. Will try and confirm this...

I have always loved history and I thank you for this site and the information. I found it very helpful. I am currently planning an extened trip to France so the trip will have a whole new meaning to me. I also made my first visit to New York city recently and will be going back in a few weeks. Maybe I will get a chance to go to Staten Island!

Regards,
Connie M. Chan
