Burr shows up in the 1860 Census (page 394) of Loudoun County in John Washington Bodine's family as being as 23 year old farmer. The location is listed as Bellmont PO.
Burr was in the 57th Virginia Militia out of Loudoun County: Sanford J. Rainey, Colonel, 1860 Armistead T.M. Rust, Colonel 1861 (vol. 21, p 389). A researcher has written the National Archives requesting his military records (8/29/98).

Musick, 6th Virginia Cavalry, "Burr W. Powers enlisted 4/22/61 in Co. K. Present on 7/8/61 roll. No further record."
