Here is a photo Kathy Holloway LaValley sent me of James Carney Bodine and his sisters Mattie and Mabel from Joplin, Missouri. This is used with permission and she has the original photo in case someone needs it. Dixie Mariah Carney is the sister of her great-grandfather Robert Forrest Carney.

James Bodine registered for the World War I draft on 5 June 1917 in Joplin. He gave his birthdate as 10 Aug 1895 in Joplin, Mo., that he worked as a miner for the G & R Mining Company and supported his mother. He was living Jan 1920 with his mother in Joplin employed as a dealer in second hand machinery and in April 1930 and April 1940, still living with mother, worked in machinery repair in 1930 and proprietor of an air tool repair business in 1940. He was single at the time. He was buried in Fairview Cemetery, Joplin, Jasper County where his gravestone notes he was an Army Sergeant during World War I.

James Bodine, 73, 2419 Bird avenue, died at 8:45 o'clock this morning at the Missouri State Sanatorium in Mount Vernon. Mr. Bodine was born August 10, 1894 in Joplin and had lived in Joplin all of his life. He was a veteran of World War I and owned and operated the J. C. Bodine Air Equipment Rental and Sales Company. He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Mable Wilson of El Paso, Tex. and Mrs. Mattie Schmitz, 2417 Bird avenue. Funeral arrangements will be announced by the Thornhill-Dillon mortuary.
