J. Jennings Boatman, 21 AND Juanita A. Bodine, 19, born born in Oklahoma and of Alva, were married 2 July 1920 at Alva by Rev. E. C. Anderson, Pastor of the First M.E. Church of Alva.
In April 1930, Jennings J. Boatman lived with his wife Juanita and children Margaret 7 and Rea 5 3/12 in Enid, Garfield County, Oklahoma where Jennings worked as an agent for a sewing machine company.

ALVA---Services for Jenning Boatman, 53, life-long Alva resident, will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the First Methodist church here. He died early Saturday in the Masonic hospital at Cherokee where he had been ill for the past 10 weeks. Born in 1899 on a farm two miles south of Alva, Boatman operated a general store at Vining, Alfalfa county, at the time of his death. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Lena Boatman, of the home at Alva; a daughter, Mrs. Margaret Mixon, Alva; a son, Ray Boatman, Searcy, Ark.; two sisters, Mrs. Paul S. Chance, Huntington Park, Calif., and Virginia Boatman, Alva, and five stepchildren.
