Hershel L. Askea, 67, passed away Jan. 8 at Akron General Medical Center after a courageous three-year battle with leukemia. Mr. Askea was born in Arab, Ala., and lived in the Akron area most of his life. He retired in 1985 from Goodyear Aerospace with 42 years of service. Mr. Askea was a member of Hillwood Chapel, and a World War II Navy veteran. He is survived by his wife, Ozell; sons and daughters-in-law, Don and Gerri, Larry and Kathy; daughter and son-in-law, Gwen and Ken Harold grandchildren, Russ, Danny, Jennifer and Matt; and sister, Elois Harris, all of Akron. Funeral services Thursday, 2:30 p.m., at the Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home 547 Canton Rd., Akron, Rev. Rufus Hofelt II officiating. Burial at Hillside Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home TONIGHT, 6 to 9. Memorials may be made to the Hillwood Chapel, 1350 Virginia Ave., Akron; or Akron General Medical Center Oncology Unit 9100.

Ozell Askea, age 94, passed away in Akron, Ohio on Friday, April 17, 2015. Ozell was born December 22, 1920 in Guntersville, Alabama and moved to Akron in 1946. She was a long time member of the Hillwood Chapel. Ozell was preceded in death by her husband, Hershel in 1990; and is survived by sons, Don (Geraldine) Askea, Larry Askea; daughter, Gwen (Ken) Harold; grandchildren include, Russell (Ranae), Daniel, Jennifer and Matthew (Emily); great-grandchildren include, Stephanie, Alex, Brooke and Macy; a surviving brother, Wade Bodine, resides in Elkton, Maryland. The family will receive friends Tuesday, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road (Route 91), Akron, Ohio 44312, where funeral service will follow at 12 noon with Rev. Curt Jones officiating. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to The Hillwood Chapel, 4824 S. Arlington Road, Uniontown, OH 44685. My father was Hershel Askea who passed on January 8, 1990.
The correct spelling for dads middle name is Larman.
