In 1939, he graduated from Turlock High School and then on April 17, 1939, he enlisted in the Army. As of 1999, his address was 631 Pedras Road in Turlock (95380).

I did have him married secondly to a Backhouse, but RB does not have her listed in his records.

Robert Carl Bodine, 83, of Turlock died Friday at his home. Mr. Bodine was born in Turlock and lived there most of his life. He lived in Pacific Grove for seven years and returned to Turlock in 1953. He worked in civil service at Castle Air Force Base approximately 20 years and had also worked for the post office. He was a member and an officer of the Bowling Association in Turlock. He enjoyed gardening. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving from 1941-45, and was a member of the American Legion. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Bodine of Turlock; children, Gregory Bodine of La Grange and Bruce Bodine of Turlock; and two grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Connie's Catering, 2048 Devanian Dr., Turlock, and burial is private. No visitation. Allen Mortuary in charge of arrangements. Shirley I. Bodine passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2008. She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Robert C. Bodine. Her story of her early life, Trails to Turlock, was published in the Turlock Journal several years ago. She was born in Colorado and moved to California as a young girl with her family. She started her working career as a civilian for the federal government. She completed her federal service as a claims representative for the Social Security Administration. She was diagnosed with cancer in 1973 and took a disability retirement. After successful treatment, she began part-time work at EDD for the State of California, she remained in this employment for five years. Then she began work for the Stanislaus County by working for the Turlock branch of the County Library. After several years of county employment, she retired once again. She thoroughly enjoyed her work for the different agencies. She enjoyed sports of all kinds, but particularly bowling. She participated in bowling leagues in Turlock and Modesto for many years and was a member of the California Women's Bowling Association for over 35 years, until she was no longer able to bowl. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in the mid 1990s and was again treated successfully. She is survived by her sons Gregory E. Bodine (wife, Marji) of La Grange, Bruce M. Bodine (wife, Toni) of Turlock; grandson Brett M. Bodine; granddaughter Andrea Edwards; eight great grandchildren and many, many good friends. Private services will be held.
