Notes for: William H. Bodine

From Ronny Bodine:

William Bodine never married. In June 1900, William Bodine, a house painter, was living in Bordentown and gave his birth date as March 1850. He was living a few doors down from Stogden Bodine, his brother, whom Sinnott assigns the birth date of 20 April 1846, but in the census is recorded as April 1848.

I have a copy of the letter from William H. Bodine written to Miss Sinnott on 31 March 1904 in which he writes:

Florence Foundry Store

Florence, N.J.
3/31/04.

Dear Miss Sinnott:--

Replying to your letter of recent date I have been able to obtain the information as given below:

Daniel J. Bodine was born Jan. 26, 1811. He married Charlotte Pullen. They had seven children as follows: Thomas, born Aug. 11, 1837, Annie, Feb. 14, 1839, John H., Apr. 31, 1853, Stogden, Apr. 20, 1846, William, Apr. 11, 1848, Charlotte, Mar. 6, 1850, Phoebe Mar. 1, 1852.

I also inclose you a letter from S. Laurence Bodine. Probably you have had had (sic) correspondence with the same party, if not this letter will be of interest to you. I have written to a number of other Bodine's in the upper part of this state and I will advise you if I get any information from them. I understand you are trying to write up the history of the family. I trust you will be successful in doing so.

Yours very truly,
Wm. H. Bodine (signature)

Ronny also wrote this:

The death of William Bodine was reported in the Bordentown "Register" of 15 May 1918 and the Mount Holly "Herald" of 25 May 1918. As there was no other William Bodine living in Bordentown, it was he I assigned the death date of 15 May 1918 to. His reported age was given in one paper as 70 and the other as 71, the former which fits precisely with his birth on 11 April 1848.
