Notes for: David McKinney

In some information, David was listed as having died before July 20, 1785. This must be the date his will was proven or some other will administration. He and Rebecca had four children. I think Ron Whitacre (rwhita@wans.net) may be working on this family. His mother was a McKinney (August 2000). Nancy Culbertson (NanCBee4@aol.com) is also doing research on this family. She says that David moved to Sunbury, Pennsylvania in 1772 where he established a mill and a still. He was on the Committee of Safety in the Revolution (Northumberland). Here is a message she sent me:

Subject: David McKinney and R. Lane

Date: Tue, 31 Jul 2001

This line was researched by a professional back in 1951 so that some ancestors could join DAR. I will add some info about David McKinney.

"David McKinney located at Sunbury in the spring of 1772. He was a formerly a resident of New Jersey and Virginia, and, although a miller by occupation established one of the first distilleries at Sunbury and continued in this business some years. Late in life he removed to a farm on the West Branch near the Great Island and there he died at an advanced age. He served
on the Committee of Safety of Northumberland County during the Revolution."

I think I may have sent you this information already. I just returned from vacation and am not sure.

Thanks, Nancy Culbertson
