Mark Earl Bodine, of Paris, Monroe County AND Lee Carolyn Schultz of Stouteville, Monroe County were married 22 Dec 1940 at Indian Creek by Phil J. Gannon, Resident Pastor.
Mark Bodine was elected as Sheriff of Monroe County in 1940. His 4-year term was interrupted when he was called to military duty before his term was completed as noted in the the Moberly Monitor-Index of 26 July 1943: PARIS, Mo., July 26--Mark Bodine, Monroe County sheriff, left Paris Thursday for St. Louis for induction into the Seabees, navy construction battalion. Sheriff Bodine has three brothers already in that branch of the service. He was given rating as a petty officer 3rd class, and will be assigned to police duty somewhere in Virginia. Russell Wilkes, former Monroe County sheriff, will serve as Bodine's chief deputy while the former is in the service. Mrs. Bodine and their infant son will live in Goss with her sister, Miss Rosemary Shultz.
Bodine's term as Sheriff expired in 1944 while he was still in military service and the former Sheriff, Russell Wilkes, was reelected. In 1948, Mark Bodine was reelected as Sheriff and served until at least 1963 (Sheriff Dean Mason was in office in 1967).

PARIS - Lee Carolyn Bodine, 86, of Paris and formerly of Monroe City, died Monday, Feb. 20, 2006, at Moberly Regional Medical Center in Moberly. A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 24, at St. Stephens Catholic Church in Indian Creek. Father Don Antweiler and Father Bill Flannigan will officiate. Burial will be at St. Stephens Catholic Cemetery. The Agnew Funeral Home in Paris is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Bodine was born Dec. 16, 1919, in Barry, Ill., to Harvey Otis and Lucy Irene Colven Schultz. She was married to Mark Bodine on Dec. 22, 1940. He survives at Monroe Manor Nursing Home in Paris. Other survivors include two sons, Jack Bodine of Stoutsville and Joe Bodine of Monroe City; two daughters, Linda Wilcox of Shelbyville and Sharon Mize of Pulaski, Ten.; two sisters, Bonnie Skinner and Rose Mary Vaughn, both of Paris; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one sister, Gladys Bates

Mark Earl Bodine, 95, formerly of Indian Creek, passed away at Monroe Manor Nursing Home, in Paris, on Thursday, June 7. Mr. Bodine was born on May 15, 1912 at Culdnull, Kan., the son of Clement and Ethel Parsons Bodine. He was married to Lee Carolyn Schultz on Dec. 22, 1940. She predeceased him on Feb. 20, 2006. Mr. Bodine served in the Navy during WW II and farmer in Monroe County before entering the Navy and became Sheriff again from 1956 to 1968. Mr. Bodine is survived by four children: Jack Bodine (Marilyn), of Stoutsville; Linda Wilcox (Butch), of Shelbyville; Joe Bodine (Marianne), of Monroe city; and Sharon Mize (Larry), of Pulaski, Tenn.; seven grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; two brothers: Bill Bodine, of Blackwater and Fred Bodine, of Peoria, Ill; and one sister, Betty Allison, of Basehor, Kan. He was preceded in death by five brothers and 5 sisters. Visitation was held from 9 to 10 a.m. on Monday, June 11. Funeral Mass was held at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 11, at St. Stephens Catholic Church, in Indian Creek, with Father Don Antweiler and Father Bill Flannigan officiating. Burial was in the St. Stephens Catholic Cemetery, in Indian Creek. Agnew Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
