James Alexander Bodine, Jr. registered for the World War I draft on 12 Sept 1918 in Oklahoma City. He reported that his next of kin was his mother, Ellen Bodine. He worked as a bookkeeper for the State of Oklahoma. In 1920, James Bodine, of Oklahoma City, was head of a household that included his widowed mother, Ellen, his unmarried sisters, Mae 40 and Elma 32, his widowed sister-in-law, Lena, and her two daughters Bernice and Elouise. In 1930, James and Nadine Bodine lived in Oklahoma City. Jim Bodine took the office of County Assessor for Oklahoma County on 5 Jan 1930. James and Nadine Bodine were buried in Fairlawn Cemetery, Oklahoma City.

Rosary for Jim Bodine, 61, veteran Oklahoma county assessor, who died of a heart attack Thursday at St. Anthony hospital, will be at 8 p.m. Friday at the residence, 1836 NW 15. Requiem mass will be 9 a.m. Saturday at the St. Francis church, with burial in Fairlawn. Bodine died early Thursday after being taken to the hospital from his home, where he suffered his second heart attack of the week. He was serving his eighth successive two-year term as Oklahoma county assessor. He first occupied the post in 1930. Bodine was a native of Terre Haute, Ind., and had lived in Oklahoma since 1889. Before entering the county tax office he was a salesman for the News-Dispatch in Shawnee. Bodine became ill Tuesday while attending a tax hearing. Taken home by a friend, he returned to his work Wednesday. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Nadine Bodine of the home address; a son, Jimmy; a brother, Tom, and a sister, Miss Alma Bodine, all of the city.

BODINE Nadine (Mrs. Jim), died May 30 in Bethesda MD, born at Guthrie in 1899. She moved to OKC in 1917. Widow of Jim Bodine , Okla. County Assessor, 1931-1945. She was a legal secretary at American First Title & Trust Co. for many years, and later became hostess for Phi Kappa Theta Fraternity at OSU, and then Women's Resident Advisor at St. Gregory's College in Shawnee. Survived by her son, Dr. John J. Bodine of Chevy Chase MD, with whom she resided since 1977; 3 nieces, Mrs. Robert Marcello, Wantagh NY, Mrs. Granville Ward, Boulder CO, Mrs. Bernie Horton, OKC; and many great-nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial at Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Saturday, June 2, at 1:30pm. Friends may call til 1pm at Smith & Kernke Funeral Home.
