Notes for: Clarence A. Berdine

I had his birth date as June 8, 1911, but I did not have a source for that. His son said he was always told his father was born on June 28, 1912, not 1911.

Sir:

I am Gilbert son of Clarence A. and grandson of Hattie Mae. I don't have the exact death date for Hattie Mae, but I found her obituary in the Chicago Tribune. The obit date was June 8, 1960.

I am trying to clear up the birth year for Clarence. My mother, Helen, insisted that Clarence's birth year was 1912. Clarence's Army enlistment indicates a birth year of 1912. I am trying to find the birth certificate, but it is complicated in that my grandfather was Francis Mushrush. When grandfather died, before I was born, Hattie Mae had the surnames of her children changed to Berdine from Mushrush.
