There is a family Bible associated with this family. This Bible was offered for sale at Ebay in June of 2002. I believe it was part of an estate sale or something. I bought it, made copies of the genealogical pages, and then resold it to Barbara Bivens who is related to this line of Bodines. I don't know who the original owners were, but it contains the family of Samuel Tucker Bodine and his two wives: Isabel Sheppard Nixon and Louisa Wylie Millikin. Samuel was born July 19, 1810 in the Wading River Tavern in Burlington Co., NJ. His parents were Capt. John Bodine (b.1745) and Ann Taylor (b. 1765).

"Samuel T. Bodine, a citizen who was for many years prominent in business circles in Philadelphia, died on Wednesday. Deceased was at one time largely interested in glass works and other manufactures in Southern New Jersey, and was formerly one of the directors of the Pennsylvania Railroad Company, His funeral will take place tomorrow noon, with services at the First Presbyterian Church, Seventh street and Washington Square."

Samuel Bodine served as mayor of Kensington prior to its consolidation with the city of Philadelphia. He was a director of the Pennsylvania Railroad Company for 15 years, a manager of the Presbyterian Board of Education, and a director of various financial and other corporations and institutions. See his biography in "Colonial and Revolutionary Families of Pennsylvania," Vol. I-III originally published in 1911. Isabel (Nixon) Bodine was the daughter of Jeremiah Smith and Mary (Thompson) Nixon. His 2nd wife, Louisa (Milliken) Bodine was the daughter of William and Martha (Orr) Milliken. In 1880, now a widow, Louisa was living with her daughter Alice as boarders in the home of Francis and Martha Nichols in Philadelphia. Samuel Bodine died of chronic bronchitis and was buried in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Philadelphia.
