Notes for: Phoebe Bodine
I would guess that Phoebe is a close relative of the Abraham Bodine who married Mary Low since Abraham Low was Mary Low's nephew. Given the naming pattern of their children, I would guess her parents' names were Peter and Esther/Phoebe Bodine.
From Ronny Bodine (File from Feb. 20, 2017):
From Hunterdon County, NJ Administrations, 1: 190.
On 31 Jan 1814, administration on the estate of Abraham Low, late of Hunterdon County, was granted to John Low, Cornelius Wyckoff and Abraham A. Vanfleet.
From Hunterdon County, NJ Orphans Court, 4: 196.
On 9 Jan 1819, Peter B. Lowe, one of the children of Abraham Lowe, late of Readington Township, Hunterdon County, submitted that his father died possessed of land that due to the number of heirs cannot be divided equitably and asked that commissioners be appointed. The court appointed Cornelius Wyckoff, Abraham A. Vanfleet and David Manners to examine the situation. They did and confirmed the land cannot be divided equitable, so the court directed the land be sold at auction.
From Hunterdon County, NJ Orphans Court, 4: 239.
May 1819, the commissioners reported to the court the land was sold as follows: the farm of 195 acres, 2 rods and 10 perches was sold to Christopher Rowe for $50.50 per acre. Three lots were sold to Peter B. Lowe as follows: Lot 1 of 2 acres for $62. Lot 2 of 2 acres for $79 and Lot 3 of 3 acres for $127.50.
There is no record of how the funds for the sale was dispersed among the heirs.
Peter B. Lowe was living 1840 in Readington Township, Hunterdon County, aged 50-59. Included in his family is a female aged 70-79 (=born 1761-1770) who must have been his mother.
From Hunterdon County, NJ Administrations, 4: 78.
On 12 April 1845, Peter B. Lowe was granted administration on the estate of Phebe Lowe, late of Hunterdon County.
Peter Lowe apparently died intestate between 1845 and 1850, as he does not appear in the 1850 census and there is no record of any estate administration.
