LUTHER DAVID GODBEY
May 28, 1938 ~ Feb. 10, 2009 Luther David Godbey, 70, of Bryan passed away Tuesday, February 10. Memorial services are set for 11 a.m. Thursday, February 19, at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 906 George Bush Dr., College Station, Texas 77840. A musical tribute will precede the services at 10:30 a.m. David was born in Friend, Nebraska to Rev. Luther Dobbs Godbey and Ruth Thomas Godbey. He attended the University of Nebraska and earned a Bachelor of Architecture in 1961. After completing his architecture degree, David moved to Texas and enjoyed a successful and varied career as a registered architect. He was a member of the Texas Society of Architects (TSA), the American Institute of Architects (AIA), and was a past president of the Brazos Chapter/AIA. David was preceded in death by his mother and father; brother, Dr. John C. Godbey; and sister, Mary Evelyn Jackman. He is survived by his daughter, Dr. Emily Godbey of Ames, IA; son and daughter-in-law, Patrick D. Godbey and Dr. Margherita Zanasi of New Orleans, LA; sister, Esther Ruth Godbey of Omaha, NE; brother and sister-in-law, Thomas N. and Elsie Godbey of Kapaa, HI; sister-in-law, Gretta Godbey of Ardmore, PA; former spouse and mother of Emily and Patrick, Priscilla W. Foster; as well as other loving family members and many loving friends. David was a gentleman and a scholar, a Renaissance man, and a good friend to many. In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to St. Thomas Episcopal Church and marked for the Malawi Orphan Program.
