Cherry Collins Saint: Unbelievably we received a partners law desk that belonged to my great great Uncle Ed Godbey and passed it to Sarah Margaret Saint this past Sunday as an early Christmas present. Sassy (Sarah Margaret) who was born and raised in Huntsville, AL will graduate from Wake Forest Law School in May 2017.

Anne Davis: Amazing! Where did you find the desk? How fitting that she should get it!

Cherry Collins Saint: Cousin Gladys gave the desk to Charlyn Godbey Collins who passed it to Charles Walter Collins who gave it to me and now it belongs to Sarah Margaret.

Anne Davis: Interesting side note-Great Uncle Ed was a good man and one of great monetary success because of his skill but he had only one child, Gladys, who did not have any children. He bought the finest things for his home in Decatur and even sent to Europe for some of his furnishings. At one point he had Persian rugs and Uncle Paul said busts of famous people and other finery gracing his home. His brother and our Grandfather was a circuit riding Methodist minister who was a man of modest means. He never owned a home always moving and living in a parsonage. He had 8 children, all college educated. They blessed him with 22 grandchildren, and about 49 great grandchildren, I will have to count for a while to determine how many great, great grandchildren! I think God was faithful to richly bless our grandfather for his faithfulness and service to the Lord's work. We also received a good amount of Uncle Ed's fine things. He actually put it in his will that if his daughter did not have children that we were to receive all his things. It was very thoughtful of him. I appreciate his forethought. Praise God from whom all blessing flow.

Cleo Grandstaff Huck: I always enjoy reading your posts.

Anne Davis: Thank you, Cleo. I am so glad Dianne found you. How about explaining to everyone how we are related. Please include names.

Steve Donahue: I have a distant memory of going in the car with grandfather Ed and Christine to Alabama (maybe Attalah?) in about 1958 or so (I was about 8 years old) to see an old lady who lived by herself in an old house. I remember Christine saying she had lots of valuable law books. I waited in the car while Papa Ed went in to visit her. That's about all I remember of the event. Maybe she was lawyer Ed's daughter?
