Notes for: Joseph ("Joe") Paul Bodine, Sr.

Joseph died of cancer. He married Ruby Christine Atwood Holder, widow of W. B. Holder who had died overseas while in the Army. Joseph attended high school in Teague and was the captain of the football team. Before completing his senior year in school, he enlisted in the Marines and served four years in the Pacific area. He was stationed in Peiking, China as a communications specialist.

Ruby Christine Bodine, 87, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, in Corsicana. She was born Nov. 3, 1925, in Sherman. She married Joseph Paul (Joe) Bodine, Sr. and shared almost 30 years together before being separated by his death in 1980. Mrs. Bodine lived in Ferris and Teague before moving to Corsicana in 2005. She enjoyed making crafts and ceramics, but her heart was in homemaking for her family. Mrs. Bodine was a dedicated mother, raising four children and helping to raise her grandchildren, and was a Baptist by faith. Mrs. Bodine was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Paul (Joe) Bodine Sr.; and her parents, Raymon Carlos and Myrtle Lea Mullins Atwood. Survivors include one daughter, Tommie Keaton of Corsicana; three sons, Joseph Bodine Jr. of Teague, Raymon Bodine of Streetman, and Mike Bodine and wife Ginny of Ferris; seven grandchildren, Mary McKensie Parks, Jody Bodine, Brad Bodine, Angie Leverett, Trevor Bodine, Whitney Bodine and Tanner Bodine; eight great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Graveside services for Mrs. Ruby Bodine will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at Salem Cemetery near Freestone. There will be no public visitation at the funeral home.
