Notes for: Angus ("Gus") Olsen Bodine

Gus was born in the town of Kelsey in Upshur County in East Texas. This is near the Longview/Mineola area. At the age of eighteen months, Gus and family moved to the Salt Lake City area. This is where he grew up. The latter portion of his life was spent in Sutter County, California. Two of his children still live there. The oldest son of Gus and Amber has lived with his family in the area of Scarsdale, New York for many years. Amber has been highly active in Bodine genealogy.

In April 1930, Angus Bodine, 19 and single, lived with his parents in Salt Lake City.

Arlean Snarr Christensen Farnsworth, age 86, passed away February 12, 1999 at her home in Taylorsville.

Born August 1, 1912 in Salt Lake City, Utah, daughter of Barton Alonzo and Caroline Nutt Snarr. Married Jens Seely Christensen June 22, 1937 in Logan, Utah; later solemnized in Salt Lake Temple; he preceded her in death August 21, 1969. Married Noble Wilmot "Mot" Farnsworth, Jr. February 14, 1973 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She was a very kind and gracious woman, loving wife and mother. She loved working with young people. She enjoyed playing ball, dancing, was an excellent cook and worked as a cosmetologist. Active member of the LDS church serving in many positions, most recently as ordinance worker in the Jordan River Temple for 10 years. She always had a smile for everyone.

Survived by husband, "Mot"; children, Darlean (Gary) Kelson, Magna; Cheryl (Lynn) Spence, Alpine; J. Dale (Linda) Christensen, Morgan; Kathleen "Kathy" (Jerry) Talbot, South Jordan; stepchildren, Alice Irene (Robert) Meyer, West Valley City; David W. (Nina) Farnsworth, Soda Springs, Idaho; 23 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents; two brothers; three sisters.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Community Nursing Services and those in the Bennion Heights 1st Ward who have given so much love and caring service during her illness.

Funeral services will be held Monday, 12 noon at the Bennion Heights 1st Ward, 6030 South Prairie View Drive (3500 West). Friends may call Sunday, 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and Monday at the church one hour prior to services. Interment, Taylorsville Cemetery.

Amber Louise Ohlin Bodine, 98, of Yuba City died Feb. 9, 2007, at The Fountains in Yuba City.

Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, she was a longtime Yuba-Sutter resident.

She worked for many years as a bookkeeper for Foremost Dairies and Charles Meek Lumber, as well as several of her family businesses, including Hillcrest Market and Franklin Market.

Also, she was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Sutter Buttes ward, where she was the director of and a name extraction specialist at the Family History Center, and active in several other church organizations.

Survivors include a son, Bill Bodine of Bronxville, N.Y.; two sisters, Ethel Bradford of Murry, Utah, and Bernice Ursenbach of Hawaii; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Angus Olsen Bodine; a daughter, Mary Jeannette Bodine Cull; and a son, Richard Everett Bodine.

Donations may be made to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Perpetual Education Fund, c/o Bishop Craig Reading, 3343 Lexington Court, Yuba City, CA 95991.

Services: A service is at 1 p.m. Friday at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 520 Clark Ave., Yuba City. Bishop Craig Reading will officiate. Burial follows at Sutter Cemetery in Sutter. Arrangements are under the direction of Ullrey Memorial Chapel in Yuba City.

Yuba City---Former Chico resident Angus "Gus" Olsen Bodine, 66, will be buried in Sutter Cemetery in Sutter following services at 2 p.m. Friday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints here. Bodine died yesterday at his home here following a short illness. Born Aug. 2, 1910, he came here 25 years ago from Chico, where he resided for 11 years. Prior to his retirement two years ago, Bodine owned the Hillcrest Market here for 20 years. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, for which he spent two years in mission work in Texas. He was a past member of Twin Cities Lions Breakfast Club here. Survivors include his widow, Amber L. Bodine of Yuba City; two sons, Arthur W. and Richard E. Bodine, both of Manhattan, N.Y.; a daughter, Mary Jeannette B.
