Notes for: James ("Jim") Sanders

At the time of this update, the identity of this man is still uncertain. There also may have been more than one James Sanders in the near vicinity of San Augustine. A family journal reports that he got into a gunfight and was then killed in the town of Alto, Texas by his father-in-law, William R. Bodine. It is known that a young girl named Arena Sanders was enumerated in the household of James Daniel Bodine on the 1880 Census of Cherokee County. She was a neice of James Daniel Bodine (brother-in-law of James Sanders?).
