Notes for: John Thomas ("Tom") Bodine

His death ended an era that joined the old and the new of the Bodine family in San Augustine. It is safe to say that Tom knew more about the early family in Texas than any other individual that lived in his time. James Melvin Bodine said that it was always a joy to visit with him and Ruth and to get him all "wound-up" talking of the "old days." He and Ruth provided an education for their children and continued to live for many years in the old home place that was built in 1888 of heart cypress. It was still standing in 1995.
