Obituary, Guthrie (OK) News Leader of 20 Aug 2018.
Patricia Ann Gillett went to her heavenly home on August 13, 2018. Pat was born in Guthrie, OK on May 28, 1932 to William (Bill) and Mabel Bodine. Pat grew up in Coyle, OK. She was a beautiful girl who excelled in school and supported the Bluejackets as a cheerleader. Pat had various occupations throughout her life including managing the family's gas station and motel, but the occupation she enjoyed the most was taking care of children during her time at FCC Mother's Day Out. Age knew no bounds with Pat as she worked well up into her late 70s with more energy and joy than many of her young coworkers. The words, "I can't" were not something found in her vocabulary. She always amazed friends and family alike. Pat loved her Guthrie Gospel Chapel Church family and was always first in line to help with baking cookies and goodies for Vacation Bible School and any other event that her church had planned. She loved holding Bible studies in her home and always had an open door for anyone and everyone who would like to come. Early on in her life it was obvious the Lord blessed her with a servant's heart…caring, loving, and always extending a helping hand when needed. Pat always put everyone else's needs before her own. She WAS the Ultimate Caregiver!!! The Lord blessed Pat with three beautiful children: Sharon, Ron, and Jana Gillett all of Guthrie. Jana was born with an irreversible heart defect with the grim prognosis of not surviving to see her first birthday. The doctors, on many accounts throughout Jana's life, had proclaimed that the only reason Jana had survived and lived a full life was by the grace of God and the miraculous care given by her mother Pat. Jana was blessed with 45 years. Pat devoted her entire life to serving others. In every phase of her life, in every job she worked, and for anyone she could, she was a caregiver. She loved the Lord with all her heart and HIS presence was easily felt while in hers. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Roy Dangerfield, husband Gene Gillett, daughter Jana Gillett, granddaughter Tracie Canning and great granddaughter Jacksyn Hamilton. She is survived by her daughter Sharon Chandler, her son and daughter-in-law Ron and Rhonda Gillett, many grandchildren and great grandchildren, and countless close friends she considered family, as well. She was loved and adored by all and will be missed tremendously. Pat Gillett's wishes were honored being surrounded by her loved ones during a humble graveside service conducted on Saturday, August 18, officiated by minister and close family member, Marty Garvey. Services were under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home. Our family extends their heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to all the caregivers who helped Pat during her final days here on earth with us, especially the staff at OU Medical in Edmond, whose compassionate care is unparalleled.
