My mother's name was Freda Serena Buchan. Alma Buchan Babb (not Alma Buchanan) succeeded in tracing her family back to Joachim Friedrich Reinke, born 1720 in Germany, and similarly to 18th-century roots for the Lohmann family who came to Texas in 1842. If you will give me a valid E-mail address or a mailing address, we can be in touch.

From Ronny Bodine:

Willis Bodine, age 14, was living 1920 with his paternal grandparents in San Augustine County. The Galveston "Daily News" of 19 Aug 1935, in an article about Willis Bodine, wrote that he came to Galveston six or seven years previously as an engineer in the valuation department of the Santa Fe Railway. When he lost his job through forced reductions, he went to the University of Texas and majored in physical education and two years later was employed in the Galveston public schools as an arithmetic teacher and as an assistant football coach. In the summer of 1935 he was accepted as head of the physical education department of University High School in Austin. Later he earned a Ph.D. and joined the Health and Physical Education Department at East Texas State Teachers College.

Freda (Buchan) Bodine is the daughter of Fredrick and Emelia (Reinke) Buchan.
