She might be an adopted daughter or even a step-daughter of Cornelius and Rachel Bodine. See Notes from Ronny Bodine below.

Mary is not living with Cornelius and Rachel Bodine in the 1850 census, taken 20 August, and effective 1 June. If born in April 1850 as stated in the 1900 census then she should have been named. Cornelius already had a daughter named Mary Ann (1833-1889) born to his 1st wife. His 2nd wife, Rachel, left a will but did not name any children as heirs. Yet, the 1855 New York state census clearly names her as the daughter of Cornelius and presumably Rachel. Possibly she was adopted.

On 21 June 1913, Susie Kise married Elbert V. Thurston in Cayuga County and in the marriage record named her parents as Norman Kise and Mary BODINE.
