Notes for: Willemijntje ("Minnie") Reedijk
The Dutch sources seem quite sure that her maiden name was Riedijk (or a form of that). However in information about the deaths of two of her sons, Aart and Antonie, her last name is given as Bauma/Bawma (preferred sp is probably Bauma). I'm not sure how to reconcile that yet.
Steve Lovell sent me the following from the Pella Blade of Sep. 23, 1890:
After a long illness Mrs. Arie van der Waal died at her home in this city last Saturday evening age 61 years and 9 months, leaving a husband a number of grown children to mourn her death. The funeral services will be held to-day, Tuesday, afternoon, in the Holland Presbyterian Church.
Here is a photo of her tombstone from Black Oak Cemetery in Mahaska County, Iowa (near Pella), I don't know if her husband Arie is on this stone or not. His info is not listed at Find-A-Grave; so I assume he is not. I would guess, though, that Arie was buried in this cemetery but maybe without a permanent marker.
