On 11 April 1942 in New York City, Sherman Dowsett enlisted in the Army Air Corps. He was born in 1920 and was single.
City directories of Honolulu, Hawaii for 1957 list Sherman N. & Doris B. Dowsett living together. That of 1966 and 1969 lists Mrs. Doris B. Dowsett alone.

Doris B. Dowsett, a member of the Junior League of Honolulu, died yesterday in New York City, where she had gone to forgo surgery. Cause of death was withheld pending an autopsy. Funeral arrangements are pending. Her four children, who accompanied her to New York, are expected back tomorrow. Mrs. Dowsett lived at 4727 Aukai Ave. She was born June 10, 1921, in Garden City, New York. She is survived by the children, Sherman, Jr., Melvia K., Barbie K. and Pierson Keawe Dowsett. In addition to the Junior League, Mrs. Dowsett was a member of the Honolulu Theatre for Youth.

Sherman N. Dowsett, 79, of Holualoa and formerly of Honolulu died Dec. 23, 2000 at home. He was born in Honolulu. He is survived by children Sherman Jr., Melvia, Barbie, Keawe, Tiana and Wade; brother Laurie, and sister Joan. Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Andrew's Cathedral. Aloha attire. No flowers or monetary gifts. Donations suggested to Kona Hospice.
