Norma E. Bjorkman Krenkel, age 85, of Iron River, MI, passed away Monday, April 28, 2014 at the Iron River Care Center. She was born November 19, 1928 in Stambaugh, MI, the daughter of the late Oscar and Caroline (Thompson) Bodine. She attended the Stambaugh Schools, graduating from Stambaugh High School. Norma married Irving Bjorkman on August 27, 1949 at the Grace Covenant Church of Stambaugh, and the couple made their home in Iron River Township. Irving preceded her in death on September 7, 1989. She married Roy Krenkel on July 15, 2006. Norma was employed for many years at Iron County Medical Care Facility. She was a member of the Grace Covenant Church, church choir, and played the organ at church and at home. She enjoyed baking, and was a loving mother and grandmother. Norma was known for her spunk and "telling it like it is". Norma is survived by her husband, Roy; sons, Michael (Charlotte) Bjorkman, and Jeffrey (Jean) Bjorkman both of Iron River; daughters, Marcia (Peter) DeClark of Niagara, WI, Debra (Russell) Benson of Island Lake, IL, and Patricia (Dennis) Ansell of Whitewater, WI; brothers, Carlton (Lynn) Bodine of Sawyer, MI, and Davis (Florence) Bodine of Chicago Heights, IL; sister, Naomi LaRoue of Newberry, MI; 13 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and extended family. Visitation will be held Saturday, May 3, 2014 from 9:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the Grace Covenant Church of Iron River. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the Grace Covenant Church, with Rev James Swanson II to officiate. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Interment will be in Resthaven Cemetery.
