John W. Bordine, 77, of 260 E. Garfield Ave., died Saturday morning at the Branch County Community Health Center after a three-month illness. He moved to Coldwater from the Detroit area in 1962, and retired in 1965 from Michigan Consolidated Gas Co., where he had worked for 46 years. He was a member of the Reformation Lutheran Church of Coldwater. Surviving are his wife, the former Alice L. Hoopingerner; sons, Gordon of Anchorage, Alaska, and Keith of Lafayette, Calif.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Reformation Lutheran Church. Arrangements are by Gillespie Funeral Home.

Alice L. (Hoopingarner) Bordine, 92, of Coldwater, died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 1997, in Laurels of Coldwater. She was born April 12, 1905, in East Gilead to Ora and Loie (Horton) Hoopingarner. She was raised in the Coldwater area and moved to Detroit after her marriage. She returned to the Coldwater area in the 1960s. She was employed at Detroit Diesel during World War II. She married John Wesley Bordine in June 1925 in Gilead Township. He died Dec. 27, 1980. Surviving are sons, Gordon Bordine of Eagle River, Alaska, and A. Keith Bordine of Walnut Creek, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Also preceding her in death were five brothers and one sister. She was a member of Reformation Lutheran Church, Coldwater. Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m. today at Gillespie Funerla Home, Coldwater. Services: 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the Reformation Lutheran Church, Coldwater, with the Rev. John Sleziak officiating. Burial: South Gilead Cemetery, Branch County. Memorials: Reformation Lutheran Church or to the charity of one's choice. The family requests no flowers.
