Frederick Bodine is first found in the 1900 census of New Orleans, Louisiana living with Mary Bodine, born July 1886, presumably his sister, both being orphans in the household of Louis and Mary Poulard. On 12 Sept 1916, Fred Bodine registered for the World War I draft in Chattanooga. He gave his birth date as 16 Jan 1882, stated he worked as a carpenter for the Tennessee Paper Mill, and was married to Mrs. Martha E. Bodine of Chattanooga. In 1920-1940, Fred Bodine and his family lived in Chattanooga, Hamilton County, Tennessee where he worked as a house painter. Fred Bodine was buried in Beason Cemetery, Hamilton County.

Fred Bodine, 30, and Martha Lemons, 25, were married 30 April 1910 by J. R. Hatfield, M.G.

From Tennessee Death Records:
Fred Bodine, carpenter, husband of Martha, son of James Bodine & ____ Smith, both natives of Tennessee, died 14 March 1935, aged 52, of liver and stomach cancer in Chattanooga and was buried in Beason Cemetery. Informant was Mrs. Bodine.

Martha E. Bodine, housewife, widowed, born 27 March 1879 to George Everett & Kitty Shipley, died 13 June 1957 in Chattanooga and was buried in Chattanooga Memorial Park. Informant was Essie Bodine.

BODINE--FRED. 52, died at a local hospital Thursday morning. Survived by his widow, Mrs. Martha Bodine; three daughters, Misses Lena Mae, Ruby and Betty Bodine; five sons, Earl, Harry, Cecil, Wallace and Freddy, Jr. Bodine. Body removed to Smith funeral home. Funeral announced later.

BODINE--MRS. MARTHA E., 76, died Thursday morning at the residence 4214 Midland Pike. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Jackie Burrows, Mrs. Jack Spence, Mrs. Paul Hutcheson, Chattanooga; five sons, Earl, Cecil and Wallace Bodine, Harry Lemons, Chattanooga; Fred Bodine, Washington, D.C.; three sisters, Mrs. Fred Shipley, Sale Creek; Mrs. Fred Nixson, Dayton; Mrs. Sallie Jordan, Flint, Mich.; brother Harry Everett, Sale Creek, Tenn.; 20 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 Friday afternoon from the chapel of the National Funeral Home with Rev. W. A. Peak officiating. Interment will be in Chattanooga Memorial Park. The body is at the funeral home. Active pallbearers will be Lyge Moffit, Walter Morgan, Sam Adams, George Creek, Ace Edens and O. W. Arnold Jr.
