Barbara "Barb" Ann Bodine-Rider, age 75, of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Tuesday. Barb was born on Monday, November 8, 1943 in Pottsville to the late Robert Y. Bodine and Emma E. (Erwin) Bodine. Barb's survivors include her husband of 52 years, Paul Clinton Rider; her son, Jonathan "Jon" Rider of Henderson, NV; her sister, Linda Smith of Mechanicsburg, PA, her niece, Jennifer Dudziak and her husband, Michael, of Mechanicsburg, PA; her two nephews: Adam Smith and his wife, Sandi, of Lombard, IL, Brian Smith and his wife, Sarah, of Pleasant Gap, PA; her six great-nephews; and one great-niece. Barb graduated from Camp Hill High School as part of the class of 1961 and from Shippensburg State College with a master's degree in elementary education. She retired from the Mechanicsburg Area School District, after 10 years of service working as an elementary school teacher and from the Department of Agriculture. Barb attended Carlisle Free Evangelical Church and was a member of New Covenant Fellowship in Mechanicsburg, where she participated in the Wisdom Seekers Bible Study. She helped as a full-time volunteer with New Hope Ministries Mechanicsburg and was a member of The El Shaddai Singers. Barb's biggest passion was her card ministry, from which she would send a card for any event. Paul Rider 78 , formerly of Mechanicsburg passed away March 8 at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. Paul was son of the late Eugene and Marie ( Seitz ) Rider of Enola. Paul was preceded in death by his wife Barbara ( Bodine ) Rider. He graduated from East Pennsboro High School in 1961, and served in the Air Force. Paul retired from PPL. Paul is survived by a son, Jonathan of Nevada, a sister Gladys ( John ) Myers of Mechanicsburg, and a sister -in- law Linda Smith, and one niece and two nephews . Graveside services will be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery 6839 Wertzville Rd , Enola Monday April 18 at 11 am www.pennlive.com/obits
