BODINE, Anne K., 300 White Oak, Lawton Passed away Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2003 at her home in White Oak, Lawton. Anne, the oldest of 5 children, was born April 8, 1912 in Harvard, Illinois the daughter of the late Svend and Sophie (Simonsen) Nordvig. She was a graduate of Capron High School in Illinois and graduated from Whitewater State Teachers College in Whitewater, WI with a Bachelor's Degree. She continued her education at the University of Wyoming at Laramie, WY in 1949 where she earned her Master's Degree. Anne was a teacher all her life. Her first position was at New Diggings, WI. While she was raising her 3 children, she substitute taught at various schools in Wisconsin, among which was at Greendale, WI. Her next full time position was at South Junior High in Kalamazoo, MI in the early 1950's. From there she went on to teach at Central High School and Loy Norrix High School in Kalamazoo until her retirement in 1975. In college, Anne was a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma (Tri Sigma) Sorority and was head of the Social Studies Dept. at Loy Norrix High School for several years. She was a member of the Michigan Education Association and Kalamazoo Association of Retired Teachers. On July 28, 1934 in Fox River Grove, Illinois Anne was united in marriage to Gerald L. Bodine who survives. Also surviving are a son, Verne Bodine of Lawton; 2 daughters, Jean (Norman) Turner of Lawton and Jerrelyn (Tom) Powell of Salmon, Idaho; 4 grandchildren, Eric Powell, Annalyn Hefner, Valerie Reynolds, and Sara Montroy; 7 great grandchildren, T.J. Hefner, Kayla, Gracie, Gregory, Latisha and Chelsey Powell and R. Tyler Frank. 2 brothers and 2 sisters preceded her in death. Family will receive friends Sunday, 2-4 p.m. at the ADAMS Funeral Home Paw Paw Funeral services will be held Monday 11 a.m. at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Lawton. Interment will be in Kern Cemetery, Porter Twp. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Van Buren County, Alzheimer's Research or the American Red Cross. AGE: 94. BODINE, Gerald L., 300 White Oak, Lawton. Passed away Saturday morning, Nov. 20, 2004 at LakeView Continuing Care Center, Lawton. Gerald, the oldest of 2 children, was born January 24, 1910 in Milwaukee, WI the son of the late Fred and Minnie (Cramer) Bodine. He was a graduate of Bay View High School in Wisconsin and graduated from Whitewater State Teachers College in Whitewater, WI with a Bachelors Degree. He continued his education at Northwestern University in Chicago where he earned his Masters Degree in Education. Gerald was a professor all of his life with portions at the University of Wyoming, Laramie, Kalamazoo College and Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, Michigan until his retirement in 1975. Gerald researched Folk Schools in the Southern United States, Denmark and the former Soviet Union in preparation for his Doctorate of Education degree and was for a number of years the head of the Student Teachers Program at Paw Paw High School in Paw Paw as part of his responsibilities for Western Michigan University. Gerald was a long time member of Rotary International and a member of the Kalamazoo Association of Retired Teachers. On July 28, 1934 in Fox River Grove, Illinois Gerald was united in marriage to Anne K. Nordvig who preceded him in death on Oct. 8, 2003. Gerald is survived by his brother, Win Bodine of Milwaukee, WI; a son, Verne Bodine of Lawton; 2 daughters, Jean (Norman) Turner of Lawton and Jerrelyn (Tom) Powell of Salmon, Idaho; 4 grandchildren, Eric Powell, Annalyn Hefner, Valerie Reynolds, and Sara Montroy; 7 great grandchildren, R. Tyler Frank, T.J. Hefner, Kayla, Gracie, Gregory, LaTisha and Chelsey Powell. Family will receive friends Friday 1-2 p.m. at the ADAMS Funeral Home, Paw Paw where funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. with Rev. Ron Brooks officiating. Interment will be in Kern Cemetery, Porter Twp. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Van Buren County, Alzheimers Research or the American Red Cross.
