Myrtle was the daughter of James and Hattie (Knaggs) Kennedy and perhaps adopted by Garrett Bodine as she was known under the name Bodine in later years. In June 1900, Myrtie M. Bodine, 15, lived with her family in Shreveport, Louisiana.

John Gregg Nicholson, 72-year-old owner of the Nicholson garage, died at 12:15 p.m. yesterday at his residence at 2109 Seymour, after a long illness. Funeral services are planned at 4 p.m. today at the Rose-Neath chapel. Burial will be in Forest Park cemetery. A lifelong resident of Shreveport, Nicholson's father was a Caddo parish tax assessor for many years. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Myrtle Bodine Nicholson, of Shreveport; three sons J. G. Nicholson, Jr. , of Shreveport; Robert Earl Nicholson, of Chula Vista, Calif.; and Jack Nicholason, of Moline, Ill.; three daughters, Mrs. J. C. Haver, of Al Humbra, Calif.; Mrs. Don Herarndon, of Fort Worth, Texas; and Anna Nicholson, of Shreveport. Pallbearers will be Folson Brown, V. H. Brown, C. A. Frey, E. M. Freeman, Rupert Pickett and Mitchell Pickett.

Funeral services for Mrs. John Gregg Nicholson Sr., 82, of 4423 Finley Dr., will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in the Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Forest Park. Mrs. Nicholson died at 1:10 a.m. Tuesday in Shumper Hospital after a long illness. She had been a resident of Shreveport for the past 67 years and was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Woodmen of the World Auxiliary. She was a native of Cadillac, Mich. Officiating in services for Mrs. Nicholson will be the Rev. Leo Palmer, pastor of the Mildred Crowe Baptist Church. Survivors include three sons, John G. Nicholson Jr., Shreveport, Robert Earl Nicholson, Chula Vista, Calif., and Jack Bodine Nicholson, Moline, Ill.; three daughters, Mrs. Mabel N. Hayes, Alhambra, Calif.; Mrs. Betty Herndon, Phoenix, Ariz. and Mrs. Alice Oliver, Shreveport; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Pallbearers are to include Norman Oliver, Raymond Oliver, Rhett Parker, Vardaman Brown, Folsom Brown and W. E. Maxwell.
