Margaret O'Neill 1923 - 2015 BELLOWS FALLS, VT. Margaret Louise (Bodine) O'Neill passed away on August 22, 2015, at The Card Home in Willimantic, Connecticut after a brief illness. Margaret was born December 28, 1923, in Bellows Falls, VT to the late Clarence and Marjorie (Hunt) Bodine. Margaret raised her family in South Windham, and in her later years lived at Mago Point in Waterford, subsequently retiring to The Card Home. Margaret is a graduate of Bellows Falls High School in Vermont. She attended St. Mary's Hospital for Nursery Nurses in New York City and Castleton State College in Vermont. She taught in a one room schoolhouse, worked at Fraser's Nursery and was employed by The Card Home for nearly 20 years before retiring a few months ago. She was a Brownie Scout Leader at Natchaug School and was a 4-H Leader in the Windham area for many years. Margaret was a volunteer at Windham Community Memorial Hospital and The Card Home. She was also a member of the hand bell choir at the First Congregational Church where she has been an active member since 1964. Margaret's hobbies included reading, playing scrabble, cooking, watching Jeopardy, gardening and knitting. Margaret has knitted over 140 Christmas stockings for her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, friends and extended family members. Her greatest joy was her family and watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow up. Some of her happiest times were the more than 50 years she spent camping with her family at The First Congregational Church Camp (Camp Wabbaquassett) in Eastford, CT. In her later years, Margaret enjoyed spending time with her friends at The Card Home. Margaret is survived by her children, Harry and his wife, Mary of Columbia, Peggy Stygar and her husband, Glenn of Lebanon, Thomas and his wife, Laurie Alberts of Westminster, VT, Madeline O'Neill-Lewis of Willimantic, and Mary Ellen Haseltine and her husband, Matthew of Chester, VT. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Tamara Boisvert of Columbia, Jennifer Dzen of East Hartford, Tracey O'Neill of Ohio, Carrie Prodhan of Illinois, Jonathan Stygar of Columbia, Amy DeMichele of MA, Rebecca O'Neill of VT, Justin Lewis of Coventry, Todd O'Neill of Willimantic, and Kathleen, Robert and Benjamin Haseltine of VT along with 15 great-grandchildren and several cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Michael O'Neill and by her sisters, Marion Jette and Doris Tatro. She was also predeceased by her beloved grandson, Patrick O'Neill. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 29, 2015 at 11a.m. at The First Congregational Church located at 199 Valley Street, Willimantic, CT. Interment to follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Club Road, Windham, CT. There are no calling hours.
