From The Binghamton Press of 22 Aug 1946: Miss Beverly J. Phippen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry T. Phippen of Port Crane became the bride of Francis E. Berdine, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank E. Berdine of Apalachin, Aug. 10 at the Port Crane Baptist Church.
Francis Berdine was a World War II veteran, serving with the U.S. Army from Oct 1940 to Oct 1945.

Francis (Frank) E. Berdine, 57, of RD2, Spear Rd., died Tuesday 1:55 p.m. at Ideal Wilson Medical Center, Johnson City. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Beverly J. (Phippen) Berdine, Harpursville; a son and daughter-in-law, Francis C. and Brenda Berdine, Pine Bush, N.Y.; 2 grandchildren, Matthew Scott Berdine and Mark Douglas Berdine, both of Pine Bush, N.Y.; 1 brother, William A. Berdine, Palm Bay, Fla.; 1 aunt, Mrs. Helen Warner, Clearwater, Fla.; his dear friends, Harry and Cherie Miller & their children, Lisa Ann and Harry G. Miller, West Colesville; several nieces, nephews and cousins. A veteran of WWII, US Army, 27th Infantry Division; a retired Major, NYS National Guard; member of the 27th Division Assn. Inc. Post 11, Binghamton; the Harpursville United Methodist Church; Binghamton Lodge 177 F&AM; Lodge Council Chapter Consistory-Valley of Binghamton; AAONMS Kalurah Temple; Arab Patrol Kalurah Temple; VFW Richard J. Hoyte Post; American Legion Post 1596, Harpursville; Lodge 852 BPOE, Binghamton. He was the former owner of the Belden Hill Golf Course, Harpursville and was employed as a rural Letter Carrier US Postal Service, Harpursville, N.Y. Memorial services will be held Thursday 2 p.m. at the Osterhoudt Funeral Home, Harpursville, N.Y. The Rev. Joseph Timlin, Pastor of his church, will officiate. Family will receive friends at the funeral home, Thursday from 1 p.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his memory may be made to the Harpursville United Methodist Church Memorial Fund or Shriners Children Hospital and Burn Center, c/o Masonic Temple, 66 Main St., Binghamton.

Mrs. Beverly J. Berdine, 57, of 5 Magnolia Dr., Harmony Heights, formerly of Harpursville, died Wednesday morning at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Frances C. and Brenda Berdine, Pine Bush, N.Y.; two grandsons, Matthew Scott and Mark Douglas Berdine, Pine Bush, N.Y.; one sister, Mrs. Ruth Walsh Munro, Dade City, Fla.; one brother, Clark M. Phippen, Beaumont, Texas; several nieces nephews and cousins and her dear friends, Harry and Cherie Miller and their children, Lisa, Ann and Harry G. Miller, RD 6, Binghamton. She was predeceased by her husband, Frances E. Berdine, May 26, 1981. She was a member of the Harpursville United Methodist Church, the Elks Ladies of 852, Binghamton, the Southern Tier Chapter of the Retired Officers Association, Windsor Chapter 190, O.E.S. and the National Rural Mail Carriers Auxiliary, AARP and CSEA. She and her husband were the former owners of the Belden Hill Golf Course. At her request, there will be no services with final disposition--cremation. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Harpursville United Methodist Church Building Fund. Arrangements are by the Osterhoudt Funeral Home, Harpursville, N.Y.
