Ralph Berdine, 78 of Scipioville, died Monday at the Veterans Administration Hospital, Syracuse, after a long illness. A native of Applachin, he had resided in Scipio for many years where he conducted a trucking business. He was a veteran of World War I and a member of the Cayuga Lake American Legion Post 1107, Union Springs. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Marian Berdine; a daughter. Mrs. Norma Birdsall of Scipio Center; four grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two nieces and two nephews. Funeral services will he at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Shakelton Funeral Home, Aurora, with the Rev. Robert Herst, pastor of Aurora and Scipio Presbyterian churches, officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Scipioville. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 tonight and Wednesday.

Marian Bates Berdine, 89, of Scipio Center, died Monday, January 20, 1986, at Auburn Memorial Hospital following a short illness. Mrs. Berdine was born in Apalachin, NY., the daughter of German Bates and Nellie Sprague Bates. She had been a resident of the Scipio area for more than 50 years. Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a baker for Hunters Diner in Auburn. Mrs. Berdine was a member of the Senior Citizens, The Golden Agers, and the Scipioville Presbyterian Church. Surviving are her daughter, Mrs. Norma Birdsall of Scipio Center; four grandchildren, Donald Birdsall, Margaret Babbitt, Bonnie Sullivan and Judy Birdsall; 12 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren. Her husband, Ralph Berdine predeceased her in 1967. Friends are invited to attend Memorial Services for Mrs. Berdine in the Scipioville Presbyterian Church, Route 34B in Scipioville at 2:00 pm on Sunday January 26, 1986 with Revr Richard Kuenkler officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Scipioville Presbyterian Church in Mrs. Berdine's memory. Arrangments by Farrell's Funeral Service Inc.
