Vern and Jeannette Bodine were divorced after Jan 1920 and Jeannette married 2ndly Cecil Victor Stamm, to whom she bore a son, Cecil Victor Jr., on 15 April 1922, and with whom she lived in 1930 in Cleveland, Montgomery Co., Ohio and 1940 in Madison, Montgomery Co., Ohio.

After Jan 1920, Vern Bodine married his 2nd wife, Helen A., with whom he was living from 1921 to 1926, as noted in the Dayton City Directories of those years. Helen, can be identified from the Wayne County marriage record to her 2nd husband, Kermit Strickler, on 18 Oct 1927, wherein she was named as Helen Bodine, born 7 Oct 1896 in Dayton, Ohio, daughter of Anton and Grace (Meek) Luik, and was divorced from her previous husband earlier in 1927. The Dayton City Directory of 1927 shows Vern Bodine living alone.

Helen A. Strickler, died 2 Jan 1962 in Dayton, Montgomery County, aged 66, widowed.

The Dayton City Directories of 1928 and 1929 list Vern Bodine with a 3rd wife, Viola.

Viola Sullivan was 1st married to J. Walter Ritzberger and 3rdly on 7 Sept 1932 in Wayne County, Indiana to Leroy Henry "Roy" Barr. This record notes her birth on 22 Sept 1899 [but the year was 1900 as she is not in the 1900 census yet] in Dayton, Ohio and her previous divorce in 1931. Ohio Death Records record Viola Barr died 2 Feb 1944 in Dayton, Montgomery County.

Vern J. Bodine, ice man, born 17 Feb 1895 in Montgomery Co., Ohio, a resident of Dayton, Ohio, son of Wm. Bodine & Malinda Snyder AND Rose M. Hodges, housekeeper, born 31 May 1910 in Chattanooga, TN, a resident of Richmond, Indiana, daughter of Geo. Hodges & Cora Miller, were married 9 Oct 1931 by D. L. Ferguson.

The 1933 and 1934 city directories for Dayton, Ohio list Verne J. and Rose Rodine (listed as Fern in 1934).

The obituary of Carl Ransom Hodges, son of George W. and Cora Miller Hodges, in the Chillicothe (OH) Gazette of 13 May 1996, names among his survivors a sister, Rosemary Hess of Lakeland, Florida.

LAKELAND -- Ms. Ruth (sic) Hess of Lakeland, died from congestive heart failure Friday (Nov. 16, 2001) at Lakeland Hills Center of Lakeland. She was 91. Born May 31, 1910, in Sellcreek, Tenn., she moved to Lakeland in 1960 from Dayton, Ohio. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Willow Oak Church of God. She is survived by her sisters, Arlene Moran and Dorothy Rapp, both of Lakeland. Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Oak Hill Cemetery, Lakeland. David Russel Funeral Home. Virginia Bailey was the daughter of James Elva and Hattie Pearl (Butt) Bailey. She was 1st married about 1924 to Harry L. French.

On 27 April 1942, Vernie James Bodine registered for the World War II Draft in Dayton, Ohio. He reported he was born 17 Feb 1893 in Vandalia, Ohio and named Mrs. Mary Oster as someone who would know his whereabouts. He signed his name as Vernie J. Bodine.

Following the death of her husband, Virginia Bodine had a relationship with Lawrence Cornell Rose and bore twins on 1 Dec 1946, Lawrence Cornell Bodine and Linda Carol Bodine. Virginia was buried in Davids Cemetery, Kettering, Montgomery County, Ohio.

She reported her name in Dec 1948 as Violet Mae Rose and in Dec 1968 as Violet Mae Murdock. She died 10 April 1997. Her last residence was Haslett, Ingham County, Michigan.
