BURDINE, James Gates, Age 74, March 9, 2018, of Detroit. Jim Burdine passed away peacefully at St. John Hospital on March 9, 2018 after a long and courageous battle with a series of illnesses. He was born on August 30, 1943 in Maryville, Tennessee; son of Ben Tipton and Lucy Marshall Burdine. Jim retired from Michigan Food Sales in 2010, after 47 years as the company's General Manager. He will be remembered for his kindness, his generosity, and his fondness for sharing a good story or two over dinner. Loving husband of Connie for over 50 years, dearest father of James, and adoring grandfather of Violet and Lilah. He was a devoted uncle to John, Lynn, Robert, and Nancy (Josh). He is survived by his brother Frank (Barbara), sister-in-law Sherryl, and a large, loving extended family and many friends. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Robert, and his sister Mary. A Memorial Service will be held on April 8th at 2pm at Redeemer United Methodist Church 20571 Vernier Road, Harper Woods with Pastor Marshall Murphy as Clergy.
