Chester H. appears in no prior census with his parents unless he is identical with Jesse, but the birthplace of his father is given as Unknown, whereas all other children list their father as born in Kentucky. It may be that Jesse aka Chester, was a son of Sarildia's born before her marriage to James Bodine.]

In 1942, James Westley Bodine registered for the World War II draft in Indianapolis, Indiana. He reported he was Black, was born 6 Nov 1878 in Oldham County, KY and that Mrs. Lilly Bodine was his next of kin. City directories of New Albany, Indiana show James W. and Lilly Bodine as residents there in 1947-1955, but by 1956 Mrs. Lilly Bodine was the widow of James W. Bodine, and was still living there in 1958.
